According to Ukraine's Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, as a result of repatriation efforts carried out today, July 16, the bodies of 501 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine.

According to the Russian side, the remains belong to Ukrainian citizens, specifically military personnel.

Investigators from law enforcement agencies, together with representatives of forensic institutions, will take all necessary measures to identify the repatriated remains.

The repatriation efforts were carried out as a result of joint work by representatives of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other agencies of Ukraine’s security and defense sector.

Exchanges of remains

On June 14, the remains of another 522 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine. According to the Russian side, these may belong to Ukrainian servicemen.

Before that, on May 16, the remains of 528 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine.

On April 9, another 1,000 bodies were returned to Ukraine.

Another exchange took place on February 26. Another 1,000 bodies, which may belong to Ukrainian defenders, were also returned to Ukraine.
