Ukraine receives 1,000 bodies of fallen soldiers in repatriation with Russia

On April 9, another 1,000 bodies of the fallen were returned to Ukraine, which may belong to Ukrainian soldiers, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reports.
"Today, repatriation measures took place, as a result of which the bodies (remains) of 1,000 deceased persons were returned to Ukraine. According to the Russian side, the returned bodies belong to Ukrainian servicemen," the statement says.
According to the headquarters, experts will conduct the necessary examinations to identify the repatriated individuals. After identification, the bodies will be returned to their families for proper burial.
The headquarters thanked everyone involved in the exchange.
The previous exchange took place on February 26. Ukraine also received 1,000 bodies that may belong to Ukrainian defenders.
Before that, on December 19, 1,003 bodies were returned from Russia. In exchange, the Russians received the remains of their soldiers.
