The previous exchange took place on January 29. At that time, Ukraine and Russia conducted another round of exchange of bodies of the fallen, within which another 1,000 bodies belonging to fallen servicemen of Ukraine Defense Forces were returned.

On December 19, Ukraine was handed over another 1,003 bodies of the fallen. According to Russia, they belong to Ukrainian servicemen.

Before that, several other exchanges took place. In particular, on November 20, Russians handed over to the Ukrainian side another 1,000 bodies, and earlier on October 23, they also returned another thousand bodies of the fallen, which could belong to Ukrainian military personnel. In exchange, Russians received remains of their own fallen soldiers.
