Ukraine receives 522 bodies in latest repatriation operation with Russia

As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies of 522 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine today, June 18, according to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to citizens of Ukraine, including military personnel.
The bodies were returned as a result of the joint work of staff from the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other institutions of Ukraine's security and defense sector.
Investigators from law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.

Body exchanges
On May 16, the bodies of 528 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, may belong to Ukrainian service members.
Before that, on April 9, another 1,000 bodies were returned to Ukraine.
Another exchange took place on February 26. Ukraine also received 1,000 bodies that may belong to its defenders.
