Last year, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense approved more than 1,300 new models of Ukrainian-made weapons and military equipment for use, representing a quarter more than the previous year, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The largest share is accounted for by:
- Unmanned aerial vehicles – over 550 models;
- Ammunition for various purposes – over 270 models;
- Over 50 models of automotive equipment;
- 11 models of armored vehicles (including special armored cars);
- 13 small arms.
“This is the result of the systematic work of Ukrainian manufacturers, who are not only scaling up production but also creating new technological solutions for the front. The development of the domestic defense industry is a strategic priority. Our own developments and modern technologies are one of the key foundations of the Ukrainian army's resilience,” Shmyhal added.
Weapons production in Ukraine
Earlier, Shmyhal said that Ukraine continues to increase weapons production. The state centrally purchases 76% of the weapons for the front from Ukrainian manufacturers.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko also reported that more than half of the weapons currently in the possession of the Armed Forces were produced by Ukrainian companies.
Earlier, Colonel Andrii Zhuravlev, deputy chief of staff of the Missile Forces and Artillery Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine that the Ukrainian military would soon receive new weapons and equipment, including modern drones and artillery.
Among the promising models for the Missile Forces and Artillery, he named the 155-mm Marta towed gun with a barrel length of 39 calibers, as well as a 105-mm towed gun—both systems are currently undergoing testing.
Back in July, Shmyhal reported that Ukrainian weapons production had increased 35-fold since the start of the full-scale war. Ukraine plans to increase this figure.
