“There is a principled agreement on the next meeting (regarding peace with Russia – ed.). But for obvious reasons, we will not disclose details or dates,” he said.
Tykhyi added that more details will emerge after the negotiating group returns and provides a more detailed report to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the talks that took place.
Negotiations in Geneva
Previously, rounds of talks among Ukraine, the United States, and Russia were held in Abu Dhabi on January 23–24 and February 4–5. The countries failed to achieve significant progress toward ending the war, but they agreed on a prisoner exchange — the first in five months.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during the two-day talks on February 17–18 in Geneva, the delegations of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States made substantial progress on the military track, though discussions on political issues were difficult.
He also stated that the negotiations between Ukraine and the aggressor country in Geneva could already have reached the final stage, but Russia is attempting to drag them out.
It is also worth noting that US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, said “significant progress” had been made after the first day of talks in Geneva.
At the same time, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, said that during the trilateral negotiations in Geneva, some issues were clarified. He also spoke about the next stage.
What is known about the second day of talks in Geneva and how the first meeting concluded can be read in the RBC-Ukraine report.
