British experts are working on the ground to help restore air travel with Ukraine as soon as a ceasefire is reached, as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated, according to the UK government website.

The UK Prime Minister considers the restoration of air travel with Ukraine to be very important.

"It will take time - but this will be a huge moment in reconnecting Ukraine’s economy, boosting investor confidence, and helping to reunite families separated by this war," Starmer said at a press conference in Kyiv following the Coalition of the Willing summit.

On Saturday, May 10, negotiations were held in Kyiv between the leaders of Germany, the UK, France, Poland, and the EU leadership with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As a result of the meeting, participants set a deadline for Russia to agree to a 30-day ceasefire starting Monday, May 12. Kyiv is ready to completely cease fire.

Starmer's statement was made in the context of US President Donald Trump's efforts to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Restoration of air travel with Ukraine

In recent months, there has been repeated media coverage of individual airlines and Ukrainian airports being prepared to restore flights to Ukraine’s airports following a ceasefire announcement and the opening of the skies.

For example, in February, Kyiv’s Boryspil Airport management announced its readiness to resume operations.

The largest airline in Europe, Ryanair, also announced its readiness to resume flights to Ukraine.

The aviation service is ready to resume flights from airports in Lviv or Boryspil, but only after equipping the airport areas with air defense systems.
