Coalition of the Willing and Trump give Russia deadline to agree to ceasefire in Ukraine

Leaders of the Coalition of the Willing called US President Donald Trump after a meeting in Kyiv. They set a deadline for Russia to agree to a ceasefire, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on X.
He noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as French leader Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the Prime Ministers of Poland and the United Kingdom, Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer, called Trump after the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Kyiv.
“Ukraine and all allies are ready for a full unconditional ceasefire on land, air, and at sea for at least 30 days starting already on Monday (May 12 - ed.),” Sybiha stated.
If Russia agrees and effective monitoring is ensured, a prolonged ceasefire and confidence-building measures could pave the way for peace talks.
Coalition of the Willing meeting
Today, May 12, the leaders of four European countries arrived in Kyiv - French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
A Coalition of the Willing meeting took place in Kyiv, aimed at securing peace in Ukraine following a ceasefire and the end of the war. Within the initiative framework, the possibility of deploying European troops to Ukraine is being discussed.
The United States proposed a 30-day comprehensive ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine back in March. Ukraine agreed to the US proposal, but Moscow has so far delayed its response.
European partners have stated that, in cooperation with the US, they are ready to expand sanctions on Russia if it refuses the ceasefire. Corresponding statements were made by Merz and Macron.
