The UK is ready to defend itself in case Russia decides to launch an attack on the country. For this purpose, the financing of the Ministry of Defense of the country is provided, says the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in an interview with Sky News.

The prime minister was asked whether the U.K. is prepared "to properly defend itself" if Russia "Russia was to turn its turrets in our (British - ed.) direction".

"Yes," answered the head of the British government.

Sunak reminded that one of his priority tasks is to ensure the safety of every British citizen. And this is happening amidst the world that is becoming less safe.

"Unfortunately, the world is becoming less safe and we can see that obviously with the situation in Russia and Ukraine," the prime minister added.

He emphasized that as Britain's finance minister, he increased the funding of the Ministry of Defense to the highest level since the Cold War. And the army has to decide how to distribute the funds.

"But, in general, do I think we are well protected, well invested? Yes. We are the second biggest defense spender in NATO," said Sunak.

He stated that, based on the actions taken in Ukraine, they would stand up for their principles. He emphasized that they would not tolerate unchecked and unpunished aggression.

Russia's attack on NATO

Recently in European countries, there has been more and more talk about a possible attack by Russia if Ukraine loses the war.

Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, noted that the threats of the dictator Vladimir Putin to attack NATO are real and Iskanders can reach Berlin.

Against the background of the threat from Russia, Estonian Prime Minister Kaia Kallas emphasized the need to help Ukraine win the war.
