Kyiv shaken by explosions during Russian Shahed attack

Explosions in Kyiv were heard late in the evening on August 20. Russian forces are attacking the capital of Ukraine with drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram and Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko.
According to local authorities, enemy drones were spotted over Kyiv. The Ukrainian Air Force had earlier warned about drones approaching the city from the east.
“Enemy drones are near Kyiv. Please stay alert and cautious, remain in safe places until the air raid alert is lifted,” Tkachenko reported.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, air defense forces are operating on both the left and right banks of the city.
The Ukrainian Air Force has warned of a large number of enemy drones operating in various regions.
As for Kyiv, an enemy UAV was approaching the city from the east, and a group of enemy drones was also detected in the Kyiv region from the west.

Attack on Ukraine
On the night of August 21, Russian forces launched a large-scale strike with attack drones across Ukraine. The Air Force and local administrations report active movement of enemy UAVs in several regions simultaneously.
Specifically, groups of kamikaze drones were recorded:
- Dnipropetrovsk region – heading north;
- Odesa region – moving in a northern direction;
- Kirovohrad region – Shahed drones heading toward Vinnytsia;
- Vinnytsia region – attack drones moving west;
- Kharkiv region – heading toward Poltava and Kirovohrad;
- Poltava region – group of Shahed drones moving west;
- Sumy region – drones heading toward Poltava and Chernihiv;
- Chernihiv region – group of drones moving toward Kyiv region;
- Cherkasy region – heading west;
- Kyiv region – enemy drones moving west.
The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and air raid alerts have been declared in several regions.
Air defense forces are working to destroy enemy targets, and local authorities urge residents to stay in shelters until the danger passes.
In occupied Donetsk, a series of explosions occurred late in the evening on August 20. Photos and videos from the occupied city have appeared online.
