UK orders additional Martlet missiles, some to be sent to Ukraine
The UK government has ordered a significant number of Martlet Light Multipurpose Missiles (LMM) to supply its Armed Forces. Some of the missiles will be transferred to Ukraine, according to the UK Ministry of Defense.
The order worth 176 million pounds is intended to equip existing and future short-range air defense systems of the UK Army, such as Stormer combat vehicles.
They will also be used in the Royal Navy's Martlet maritime anti-ship missile system, which is deployed from Wildcat helicopters.
Weighing just 13 kg each, the Light Multipurpose Missiles (LMM) provide highly accurate protection against threats such as drones, helicopters, other aircraft, and small, fast maritime targets.
In addition, hundreds of LMM missiles will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier it became known that the UK Ministry of Defense intends to increase the number of Ukrainian servicemen who will be trained in the use of Martlet MANPADS.
