British Prime Minister promises to double support for Ukraine
Ukraine enjoys unwavering support from the United Kingdom, and London will double its aid to Ukraine, according to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Starmer said that Russia's aggression is "unforgivable and cannot go unpunished."
Starmer mentioned that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Downing Street was a "real piece of history."
The UK Cabinet welcomed the Ukrainian president with a standing ovation, as he became the first foreign leader to personally address a ministerial meeting since 1997.
"This is a very, very important meeting for us and you’re very welcome here,” the prime minister said. “It is a real pleasure and a privilege to be able to welcome you to Downing Street this morning. This is a real piece of history."
He said that the fact that the president became the first foreign leader of the 21st century to personally address the Cabinet speaks to "the esteem you’re held in… in this country and around the world."
Starmer mentioned that he had accepted an invitation to visit Ukraine again in the future.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is in London today, where he participated in a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Labour Party, which won the recent elections in Britain.
Zelenskyy asked Prime Minister Starmer to show his leadership on the issue of using Western weapons to strike Russian territory.
The United Kingdom has consistently supported Kyiv since the beginning of the war, being the first to provide weapons that other countries hesitated to supply, including tanks and missiles.
