Russia has attacked railway facilities in Konotop of Ukraine's Sumy region with drones for a second day in a row, according to Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Communities and Territories Development.

"This is not the first deliberate strike on civilian transport this week—Russia attacked a passenger train with a drone, killing four people right inside a railcar," Minister Kuleba said.

According to him, Russian forces have been targeting civilian railway infrastructure in the Sumy region for a second day in a row.

In Konotop, a series of drone strikes damaged railway tracks, station grounds, a repair workshop, and the administrative building of a locomotive depot, sparking fires.

A firefighting train was deployed to deal with the aftermath. Railway workers were sheltering at the time of the attack, which helped prevent staff casualties.

"These are not random strikes, but systematic terror against civilian logistics," the minister stressed.

Despite the damage and resulting delays, railway workers continue operations.

Overnight on February 1, Russia launched a drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 90 strike drones from five directions. Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed most hostile UAVs.

The aerial assault was repelled by fighter aircraft, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.

Previously, an enemy drone struck a private house in Dnipro city, killing two civilians—a man and a woman.

In addition, the night before, on January 31, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 85 strike drones launched from three directions. Ukrainian air defenses shot down 64 of them. At the same time, 20 strike drones hit 13 different locations across the country.
