US President Donald Trump stated that he has his own deadline regarding peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, Trump made this statement during a conversation with journalists.

Trump was asked whether he has his own deadline regarding peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

"I have my own deadline on Russia and Ukraine deal," the US president responded.

He stated that he has a final deadline, after which there will be a "very much different attitude."

"But I think that (the peace deal - ed.) has a very good chance of getting done," he said.

Trump’s statements on the ceasefire

During his election campaign, Donald Trump promised to quickly end the war in Ukraine. However, after returning to the political spotlight, he began making statements that echoed pro-Russian rhetoric, partially placing the blame for the war on Kyiv.

Trump referred to Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a “dictator without elections” and accused him of inaction. Later, he acknowledged Russia’s guilt, but at the same time held Joe Biden responsible as well. Recently, he again claimed that both Biden and Zelenskyy were to blame for the war, though he later also mentioned Putin.

US may withdraw from negotiations

Recently, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States could withdraw from the peace process if there is no prospect of a swift agreement between Ukraine and Russia in the near future.

Later, Donald Trump confirmed that the US may indeed halt its participation in the talks if either side obstructs the path to peace.

At the same time, Bloomberg reported that the American peace initiative envisions Russia retaining control over the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Despite this, Trump is confident that Russian President Vladimir Putin will listen to him and refrain from striking Ukraine.
