The United States is no longer funding military aid to Ukraine. The US is now making money by selling weapons to NATO countries, said US President Donald Trump during a cabinet meeting at the White House.

"We are no longer involved with funding Ukraine, but we are involved with trying to stop the war and killings in Ukraine. We are selling missiles and military equipment, millions and millions, ultimately billions of dollars to NATO," Trump said.

According to the American leader, it is the allies who bear the main financial burden of the war, while the United States focuses on supplying military equipment.

"We are trying to do as much as we can for them. They want the American product," Trump said.

He added that American military equipment is the best in the world, and although Ukraine has many options, it is specifically a US military product that it wants to receive. Therefore, factories are doubling and tripling production, where they manufacture Patriot systems and other equipment.

New US and NATO initiative to support Ukraine

Recently, the United States and NATO launched a new mechanism for providing military assistance to Ukraine through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative.

Under this initiative, all American weapons supplied to Ukraine will be financed by European countries. In particular, it was recently announced that Ukraine will receive US weapons worth €500 million, with Germany covering the costs. Other countries are also contributing.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the PURL initiative has already secured $1.5 billion, which will be used to purchase weapons for Ukraine.
