Trump on Ukraine peace talks: 'Next few days are going to be very important'

The next few days will be very important for negotiations aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine. The United States is "putting a lot of pressure on Russia" to reach a peace deal, said US President Donald Trump, according to The Guardian.
"The next few days are going to be very important for the Ukraine war," he said.
When asked whether he is considering additional sanctions against Russia, the American President replied he would "rather answer that question in a week".
"We’re putting a lot of pressure on Russia, and Russia knows that. It takes two to tango and make a deal too, and Ukraine is being hit very hard, and I do believe they want to make a deal," Trump added.
US threatens to exit peace talks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently warned that the United States may exit the peace process if there is no clear path toward a swift agreement between Ukraine and Russia in the near future.
Shortly after, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the US could indeed withdraw from negotiations if either side obstructs efforts toward peace.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that the American peace proposal may include a provision allowing Russia to retain control over the occupied territories in Ukraine.
Trump expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin would listen to him and refrain from launching further strikes on Ukraine.
Previously, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized that Washington will not ease sanctions on Russia until a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is reached.
