The total tariff on Chinese goods imported to the US after yesterday's decision by US President Donald Trump is now 145%, CNBC reports.

A White House official explained that Trump's latest decree, signed on April 9, raises tariffs on Beijing to 125% from 84%.

In addition, a 20% tariff on fentanyl, which Trump previously imposed on China, is added.

As a result, according to the White House, the overall tariff on Chinese goods imported to the US has been increased to 145%.

US-China trade war

Earlier this month, Donald Trump imposed tariffs on imports, causing international economic tension. Initially, the tariffs affected nearly all countries, including China, which responded with similar measures.

This has strained trade relations between Washington and Beijing. On April 9, China introduced 84% tariffs on US goods.

More details on China's response to the US tariffs can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.

Yesterday, Trump announced a 90-day pause for all countries except China, allowing time for negotiations and the possibility to avoid further escalation.

However, for China, "based on the lack of respect", Trump raised tariffs to 125%.
