The United States of America and its partners will try to help Ukraine regain part of the territory occupied by Russia. However, some land exchanges are still expected, this was announced by US President Donald Trump during a press conference.

"Zelenskyy was saying, 'Well, I have to get constitutional approval...' I mean, he's got approval to go to a war and kill everybody. But he needs approval for land swapping... Because there will be some land swapping going on. I know that through Russia and through conversations with everybody,” Trump said.

According to the American president, the territorial exchange will be "for the good of Ukraine."

"Good stuff, not bad stuff. Also, some bad stuff — for both. It’s very complex because you have lines (of conflict — ed.) that are very uneven, and there'll be some (land - ed.) swapping... We're going to change the battle lines. Russia's occupied a big portion of Ukraine, they occupied prime territory. We are going to try to get some of that territory back for Ukraine," he stated.

Trump also added that Ukraine used to have a thousand miles of coastline along the ocean, but now it doesn’t; only a small piece near Odesa remains.

Meeting between Trump and Putin

Recently, US President Donald Trump announced that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15.

The Kremlin confirmed this information. In particular, the aide to the Russian leader, Yuri Ushakov, said that the US and Russia are "close neighbors," so the decision was made for the two leaders to meet in Alaska.

Trump also spoke about the possibility of a "territory swap" between Ukraine and Russia, including the return of some lands.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reminded that the territorial issue is enshrined in the Constitution, and Ukraine will not give up its lands to the occupiers. The Ukrainian president also emphasized that Russia is promoting the idea of such a "swap" without any guarantees.
