There is no talk of peace agreement with Russia yet - Zelenskyy

It is still too early to talk about a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. Ukrainians need US support, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Munich Security Conference.
"Today, there is no talk of a peace agreement, unfortunately. Because the war has been going on for three years, with many deaths, a lot of destruction, mainly lives. All of this was caused by Putin," the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
He added that there is no need to "seek mediation" between Ukraine and the Kremlin's leader. Ukraine currently needs strong support from the US and President Donald Trump.
"A peace agreement cannot be signed in Munich because this is Munich and there is no President here. And we remember what was signed here once (referring to the Munich Agreement, where Czechoslovakia handed over the Sudetenland to Nazi Germany - ed.)," Zelenskyy stated.
He explained that a peace agreement should be a plan for ending the war, supported by both Ukraine and the US. The role of European countries is also crucial, as security guarantees are the key element in any document on ending the war.
Zelenskyy clarified that Europe's voice at the negotiating table is very important for Ukraine, as the country will soon become a full member of the European Union.
Trump's statements about a peace deal
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he sees the possibility of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, suggested that a peace deal could involve Ukraine losing some of its territories, but without the need for formal recognition of this loss.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth also noted that peace between Ukraine and Russia would be “some sort of demarcation that neither side wants”.
