Russia massively strikes Kyiv overnight: Casualties, destruction, and fires reported

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, debris fell on a five-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district. At another location in the same district, a three-story residential building was damaged.

In the Darnytskyi district, a car was damaged by falling debris.

The Kyiv City Military Administration urged residents to remain in shelters until the air raid siren stops.

At 4:25 a.m. Kyiv time, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that medical personnel had been dispatched to the Solomianskyi district.

Later, Klitschko reported on further consequences of the Russian attack: a fire broke out on the grounds of an educational institution in the Holosiivskyi district, and people are reportedly trapped in a residential building. Fires were reported in non-residential areas in the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.

At 5:30 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration reported casualties resulting from the Russian attack on Kyiv—six people were known to have been injured.

At 5:55 a.m., the air raid alert was lifted in Kyiv. However, shortly thereafter, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported another instance of damage—a fire was detected in a warehouse in the Podilskyi district as a result of the Russian nighttime attack.

At 6:45 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration reported 7 casualties from the Russian attack. Unfortunately, there are also reports of 2 fatalities.

The State Emergency Service revealed details on the consequences of the nighttime Russian attack on Kyiv by district.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a Russian strike on a 26-story non-residential building at the 23rd-floor level caused structural damage without any subsequent fire. At another address in the same district, a garage caught fire—the blaze spread to a nearby non-residential building and a business center; during the search and rescue operation, emergency responders rescued one victim.

Emergency responders evacuated 2 people from an apartment in a 16-story residential building; they had been trapped due to damage caused by a blast wave.

In the Solomianskyi district, people were also trapped in a five-story residential building—rescuers saved 10 people, and one other person was hospitalized before State Emergency Service units arrived.

In the Darnytskyi district, a garage caught fire on the grounds of a private home—the fire has already been extinguished. In the Podilskyi district, a fire broke out in a warehouse, and cars and garage bays were also on fire. In the Dniprovskyi district, firefighters continue to extinguish a fire in garages.

At 7:40 a.m., according to the State Emergency Service, the death toll from the attack on Kyiv has risen—2 people have been killed, and 10 Ukrainians are now considered injured.

Firefighting efforts are still underway in several districts of Kyiv: in the Holosiivskyi and Podilskyi districts, rescue workers are extinguishing fires in non-residential buildings at several locations simultaneously, while in the Dniprovskyi district, they have already brought under control a fire involving 50 square meters of dry grass caused by Russian strikes.

At 7:50 a.m., Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also provided a preliminary assessment of the overnight Russian attack on Kyiv. According to medical officials, 2 people were killed, and 10 city residents were injured—5 of the injured were hospitalized, 2 of whom are in critical condition.

In the Holosiivskyi district, debris fell at several locations simultaneously—fires broke out in warehouse buildings and on the grounds of a private school, and debris struck a residential building, trapping people in their apartments, as well as an unfinished 26-story building, which did not catch fire.

In the Darnytskyi district, warehouse facilities were damaged and set on fire; a garage near a private home also caught fire, and a car was damaged. In the Podilskyi district, debris fell on several non-residential buildings, causing fires in warehouses. In the Solomianskyi district, falling debris caused fires in non-residential buildings, as well as in a three-story and a five-story residential building.

Emergency services and utility crews are working at the sites. Information about casualties and the consequences of the Russian attack continues to be clarified.

At 8:30 a.m., the Kyiv Police reported that 10 people had been injured as a result of the Russian attack. Among them was a foreign national.

"Damage and falling debris have been reported in the Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, Podilskyi, Solomianskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital. Apartment buildings, a school, stores, an administrative building, and cars have been damaged," the statement says.

The Solomianskyi district suffered the most casualties. That is where the fatalities occurred. Eight people aged 22 to 65 were injured. They sustained various injuries.

The Kyiv City Military Administration noted that damage was reported at 16 locations as a result of the Russian nighttime attack.

The day before, the Russians launched a drone strike on the Kyiv region—in the Boryspil and Fastiv districts, drones destroyed seven trucks and attacked a logistics complex twice, forcing rescue workers to extinguish the fires repeatedly.

Zaporizhzhia was also hit that same day. Russian suicide drones set fire to the City Mall shopping center along with its merchandise, even though the mall had closed last week. Three drones caused a massive fire, and firefighters had to extinguish six separate fires across an area of 700 square meters.
