Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 8: +1,410 troops and 1,592 drones

Ukraine has updated its daily tally of Russian battlefield losses, covering both manpower and military hardware.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 8, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel ‒ nearly 1,499,390 (+1,410)
- Tanks ‒ 12,332
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 12,332
- Special equipment ‒ 4,647
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 145,478 (+452)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,521 (+5)
- Artillery systems ‒ 49,341 (+30)
- MLRS ‒ 2,104 (+1)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,612 (+3)
- Aircraft ‒ 441
- Helicopters ‒ 355
- UAVs (operational-tactical level) ‒ 504,309 (+1,592)
- Cruise missiles ‒ 5,070
- Warships and boats ‒ 35
- Submarines ‒ 2

Frontline situation
According to an ISW report, Putin is not ready to make significant compromises to end the war against Ukraine. The ISW believes that the Kremlin continues to count on achieving its goal militarily, relying on a distorted assessment of the situation on the front.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to target Russian refineries. In a recent strike, Ukrainian drones hit several oil refineries belonging to Russia, as well as storage and launch sites for attack drones, among other targets.
