The Netherlands allocated 300 million euros to state budget of Ukraine
Since the start of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, the Dutch government has allocated approximately 300 million euros to the state budget of Ukraine, according to the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
"Since the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, the Government and people of the Netherlands have been providing crucial and comprehensive assistance to Ukraine. The EUR 300 million of direct budgetary support has made a significant contribution to ensuring macro-financial stability in times of uncertainty," noted the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Sergii Marchenko.
During the meeting, the Minister of Finance of the Netherlands, Steven van Weyenberg, along with his Ukrainian counterpart, congratulated Ukraine on the approval by EU leaders of a financial assistance package of 50 billion euros within the framework of the Ukraine Facility for the years 2024-2027.
The parties also emphasized that the frozen assets of Russia should serve as a foundation for further financing the recovery and Ukrainian economic stability in the future. The Minister of Finance of the Netherlands mentioned that EU countries are actively discussing the possibility of directing Russian assets to benefit Ukraine.
Assistance from the Netherlands to Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the Netherlands has been providing Ukraine not only with military support but also with financial assistance. In late November, the Dutch Foreign Minister announced plans to provide additional aid amounting to 2.5 billion euros to support Ukraine in 2024.
Additionally, the Netherlands has sent tanks and other military equipment to Ukraine, and together with Denmark, they lead the aviation coalition.
On December 22, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte revealed that the government had decided to prepare the first 18 F-16 fighter jets for transfer to Ukraine.
