Slovakia stands in solidarity with Romania, which was struck by a Russian drone. At the same time, Bratislava has called for restraint regarding "inflammatory statements," says Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

More and more world leaders are joining in condemning the drone strike on Romania. In particular, Fico expresses full solidarity with Bucharest.

At the same time, the Slovak Prime Minister warns against any escalation "that we may not be able to manage."

Fico calls for "restraint in making inflammatory statements" as well as the immediate start of a "dialogue" between the European Union and Russia.

Russian drone strike on Romania

During another Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of May 29, one of the Russian drones crossed the border into Romania and crashed into the roof of a high-rise building in the city of Galați.

Russian strike sparked a fire in an apartment on the 10th floor. Two people were injured and received medical attention on the scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

The Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported that a Russian Geran-2 drone struck the building.

The Romanian military stated that they were unable to intercept the drone due to the extremely short time frame. As Brigadier General Gheorghe Maxim explained, only four minutes elapsed between the moment the target was detected and its crash.

NATO has already responded to the incident and condemned the Russian drone’s strike on a residential building in Romania, a member of the Alliance.
