Security guarantees for Ukraine in exchange for Greenland? Politico reveals EU debate

The EU is considering a scenario in which European countries could allow the US to expand its presence in Greenland. In return, Washington would have to provide Ukraine with stronger security guarantees, according to Politico.
One European diplomat described this approach as a package deal based on the principle of security in exchange for security.
This refers to the possibility of concessions on the part of Europe regarding the American presence in Greenland in exchange for clearer commitments from the administration of US President Donald Trump to support Ukraine.
Politico notes that although this option is considered a bitter pill in the EU, it is seen as less risky than rejecting any agreement.
"While that seems like a bitter pill, it could be easier to swallow than the alternative, annoying Trump, who may retaliate by imposing sanctions, pulling out of peace negotiations — or by throwing his weight behind Putin in negotiations with Ukraine," the agency writes.
Security guarantees for Ukraine
After the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris on January 6, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and France signed a declaration of intent regarding the possible deployment of forces on Ukrainian territory.
Meanwhile, the US did not sign a joint document with Ukraine and the EU on peacekeeping forces.
Trump wants to seize Greenland
Recently, White House chief Donald Trump told reporters that the US absolutely needs this Danish territory, and that the island is allegedly surrounded by the Russian and Chinese fleets.
After Trump's latest statements about his intentions regarding Greenland, the EU and NATO began urgent consultations on possible actions in case Washington attempts to establish control over the island.
Four scenarios are currently being considered, one of which involves strengthening the US military presence. At the same time, the Trump administration has stated that its interest in Greenland is motivated by national security concerns.
