After the Coalition of the Willing summit in Paris, the United States did not sign a joint document with Ukraine and the EU on peacekeeping forces, Politico reports.

"We have largely finished the security protocols," US special envoy Steve Witkoff said.

However, as Politico learned, the United States ultimately did not sign the joint document.

Moreover, details of US participation in multinational forces in Ukraine were removed from a previous draft reviewed by Politico.

The earlier version envisioned that the United States would commit to "support the force if it is attacked" and provide intelligence and logistical assistance.

Paris summit

On January 6, a meeting of Ukraine, the United States, and countries of the Coalition of the Willing took place in Paris. The parties confirmed their unity in achieving sustainable peace and agreed to provide further support to Kyiv.

In particular, Germany stated it was ready to help ensure a ceasefire regime, but without deploying its own troops, unlike France and the United Kingdom.

Ukraine, France, and the United Kingdom signed a declaration establishing a joint coordination group.

According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the new mechanism will enable the full integration of the armed forces of participating countries.

The coordination group will operate at the operational level in coordination with a special headquarters in Paris. This is intended to ensure maximum coordination among the Coalition of the Willing countries in supporting Ukraine.
