The Danish government has decided to provide Ukraine with satellite communication services through the European Defence Agency (EDA), according to the Danish Ministry of Defence.

As noted by Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, this decision will enable Denmark to contribute to Ukraine's space defence.

"Space is an area that increasingly requires attention in defence policy. In close cooperation with the European Defence Agency, Denmark is now helping to strengthen Ukraine’s satellite communications in its defence against Russia. Space-based solutions have tremendous potential to enhance the defence capabilities of Ukraine, Denmark, and Europe," he stated.

It is reported that under the project, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive access to special terminals for satellite communication.

"This will significantly enhance Ukraine’s ability to continue its fight for freedom against the unlawful Russian invasion. The terminals will provide reliable and secure communication, which can be crucial for conducting military operations. This solution was requested by Ukraine," the Danish Ministry of Defence said.

The ministry also noted that EDA representatives expect other EU countries to follow Denmark’s example and consider similar projects for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Denmark’s assistance to Ukraine

In May, the Danish government announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth over 4 billion Danish kroner (536 million euros).

In April, the government unveiled another defence package for Ukraine amounting to 6.7 billion Danish kroner (approximately 995 million US dollars). The funds will be distributed over the period from 2025 to 2027. The package includes air defence systems, artillery equipment, and financial support for the Ukrainian Air Force.

Additionally, in March, the Danish Ministry of Defence announced plans to invest around 40 million euros in a special innovation fund aimed at strengthening the technological capabilities of the Ukrainian military in modern warfare.

Furthermore, Ukrainian weapons will be produced on Danish territory. A corresponding agreement was signed in Copenhagen on July 4.
