Explosions in the outskirts of Kharkiv overnight
On the night of January 13, explosions were heard in Kharkiv. Initially, it was reported that the blasts occurred in the city center, but it quickly became clear that the enemy had struck the outskirts of Kharkiv.
The attack happened after announcements warned of incoming high-speed targets, following previous ballistic threats in several regions.
It was later reported that a fire broke out after the Russian strike on the Kharkiv suburbs. One of the injured was a 42-year-old man.
The media also reported explosions in central Kharkiv itself.
As RBC-Ukraine noted, on the night of January 11, two enemy drones struck Kharkiv, both targeting the Slobidskyi district. No damage or casualties were reported on that occasion.
Russia regularly strikes Kharkiv city and the region, as the area is a priority for Moscow. The Kharkiv region was one of four regions targeted by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin in his conditions for a peace settlement.
However, Ukraine rejected both Putin’s direct terms and a similar proposal for the Kharkiv region that was initially included in the US-drafted peace plan developed by Russia and the US. The plan has since been significantly revised and is reportedly 90% complete, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
