Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine leaves 17 injured, with casualties also reported

People were killed, and more than a dozen civilians were injured as a result of a massive Russian airstrike on Zaporizhzhia city. Rescue workers continue searching for survivors under the rubble of destroyed homes, reports the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Russian strike aftermath
Based on the service's reports, the Russian army carried out airstrikes on one of Zaporizhzhia's districts during the day on June 28.
As of the evening, two people were confirmed dead, and another 17 sustained injuries of varying severity. Among the injured are two children, eight women, and four men. Medical teams are providing all necessary assistance.
The attack partially destroyed residential buildings and damaged neighboring homes, other structures, and an apartment building. In addition, a garage containing a vehicle caught fire—firefighters have already extinguished the blaze, which covered 25 square meters.

Rescue operation
Emergency responders managed to rescue a woman and a child from beneath the rubble.
According to preliminary information, another person may still be trapped under the debris. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and emergency crews continue clearing the wreckage. Work at one of the sites has already been completed.

Psychologists from the State Emergency Service set up a support center at the scene and have already provided assistance to 15 people, including three children. Information on the total number of victims is still being clarified.
Ukrainian regions under Russian attacks
Russian forces have intensified strikes on Ukraine's civilian and industrial infrastructure in recent days.
In particular, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the Kharkiv region, killing a woman in the Zmiiv community and injuring eight people, including two children.
In addition, Russian forces continue attacks on the southern regions of the country. Recently, Russia carried out new strikes on Zaporizhzhia, targeting a residential area, an industrial facility, and a gas station with guided aerial bombs and drones, causing additional civilian casualties.
