In Moscow and the Moscow region, gas stations operated by Russian oil giants Gazpromneft and Lukoil have introduced limits on fuel purchases per customer, according to the Russian agency RBC.

At Gazpromneft gas stations, a single customer may purchase no more than 30 liters of gasoline or 60 liters of diesel fuel per visit. Filling fuel into containers at these stations is strictly prohibited.

Different restrictions apply at highway stations within the same network. There, drivers are allowed to purchase up to 30 liters of gasoline or up to 200 liters of diesel. One of the Moscow gas stations also has a similar 30-liter limit on gasoline.

Similar limits have been introduced at three Lukoil gas stations in Moscow. Specifically, at one station, a driver can purchase a maximum of 30 liters of fuel, while at the other two, the limit is only 20 liters. Sales of jerry cans are also blocked at these stations.

Ukraine has struck 8 of Russia’s ten largest oil refineries. Some of these facilities have been targeted multiple times.

The Russian fuel market has faced serious problems following a series of strikes on oil refineries. Against this backdrop, gasoline prices in Russia have seen their sharpest increase in the last 20 years.

Due to fuel shortages, dozens of Russian regions have already imposed restrictions on fuel sales, including the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, which accounts for about 40% of the country’s total oil production.

To alleviate the shortage, Russia has asked Kazakhstan to supply 50,000 metric tons of AI-92 gasoline. In addition, Russian authorities have officially authorized fuel imports to meet domestic demand.
