Russian attack sets 6-story building and school ablaze in Kyiv, injuries reported

On September 2, Russians launched a drone strike on Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district, according to the capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
"In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out in a 6-story residential building after it was struck by a Russian drone," the mayor clarified.
According to him, emergency services are already heading to the site of the Russian strike.
The Kyiv City Military Administration later reported that a medical facility in the Shevchenkivskyi district had been damaged.
Also, as a result of the Russian attack in the Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out on the grounds of an educational institution.
"In the Shevchenkivskyi district, where a Russian drone struck a 6-story residential building, the building was partially destroyed. There is also a fire in a nearby three-story building," the mayor added.
Ukrainian Railways states that, as of now, there have been no strikes on railway infrastructure in central Kyiv.
At 10:35 a.m., Klitschko reported that air defense forces were operating on the right bank of Kyiv.
Against this backdrop, he urged residents to remain in safe locations.
At 11:26 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration stated that 3 people were known to have been injured in the Russian attack.
They are receiving medical care.
At 11:31 a.m., according to Klitschko, the number of casualties in Kyiv has risen to 4.
"Two of the wounded have been hospitalized, while the others are receiving outpatient care," he said.
At 11:55 a.m., the mayor reported that the number of casualties had risen to 5. He also clarified that three wounded individuals were in the city's hospitals.
"One of the medical facilities was damaged as a result of the Russian attack—some of the windows were shattered. Preliminary reports indicate there are no casualties among patients or staff," Klitschko added.
At 12:11 p.m., the mayor of the capital stated that there are now seven known casualties.
According to him, medical personnel hospitalized five wounded people.
"Emergency services are working at the sites of the strikes in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city," Klitschko emphasized.
