Today, September 18, a fragment of the tail of a Russian Gerbera drone, washed ashore from the sea, was found on a beach in Latvia, according to the press service of the Latvian Armed Forces.

"Today, on the beach of Vārve Parish in the Ventspils region, a drone tail fragment washed ashore from the sea was discovered," the statement said.

An unexploded ordnance disposal team was sent to the site to analyze the object. Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds confirmed that the object posed no explosive threat.

"We can confirm that the drone fragment washed ashore today is the tail section of a Russian decoy drone Gerbera," he added.

Russian drones entering Poland and Lithuania

On the night of September 10, about 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace, most of them from Belarus. Air defenses managed to shoot down four of them.

Debris from 16 drones was later found across Poland, with one crashing on a military base. Drone wreckage was found in 11 different towns.

On the evening of September 15, another drone flew over Polish government buildings before being shot down.

It was also reported that at the end of July this year, a Russian Gerbera drone violated Lithuanian airspace, likely launched from Belarus.
