Russian forces damage Kurakhove dam, releasing 20 million cubic meters: No flooding reported
The Russian army damaged the Kurakhove Reservoir dam, releasing 20 million cubic meters of water. However, there have been no reports of flooding in populated areas, according to a statement from the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin.
"The day before yesterday, the occupiers blew up the dam of the Kurakhove Reservoir, which held 55 million cubic meters of water. 20 million cubic meters have flowed out of the reservoir," clarified Filashkin.
At the same time, according to him, there has been no flooding in the settlements along the Vovcha River.
"There is no threat to the population remaining in those small villages either. We evacuated all the children in advance," added the head of the Regional Military Administration.
Damaging of the Kurakhove Reservoir dam
On November 11, Russian forces damaged the dam of the Kurakhove Reservoir. As a result, the water level in the Vovcha River rose.
Roman Padun, head of the Kurakhove City Military Administration, reported that there has been no flooding of residential buildings so far.
Yesterday, the Donetsk Regional Military Administration reported that 15 million cubic meters of water had been released due to the damage to the Kurakhove Reservoir dam.
Military expert Oleksandr Musiienko believes that the Russian troops damaged the Kurakhove Reservoir dam for several reasons. One of them is an attempt by the enemy to use the landscape to their advantage.
