On the night of April 21, Russians launched a massive drone strike on Sumy, according to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and Mayor Artem Kobzar.

Scale of Russian attack

According to Artem Kobzar, acting mayor of Sumy, over 5 drone strikes were recorded in the Zarichnyi district of the city.

Russia attacked a residential area: high-rise buildings were damaged, windows were shattered, and civilian cars were on fire. One of the drones struck the roof of a medical facility.

Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, revealed photos of the aftermath of the Russian attack.

Casualties

Among the wounded are 3 children aged 13, 15, and 17 years old. All of them have been hospitalized, and medical personnel are providing the necessary care.

The rest of the victims, according to Hryhorov, are mostly elderly people. All are receiving medical care.

On April 20, the Armed Forces of Ukraine specified the exact distance from the Russian troops to Sumy. According to military sources, Russians are far from Sumy, although they managed to capture several settlements directly on the border of the Sumy region.

Spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Viktor Trehubov, noted that the Russians have intensified their offensive in the Sumy direction and are attempting to expand their areas of control near the border.

Meanwhile, in the Kursk direction, the Russians attempted to break through via a gas pipeline, using an unconventional route and high-speed vehicles to penetrate the rear of Ukrainian positions, but encountered a prepared defense.

Russia also launched over 700 strikes on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia region. 2 people were killed, 10 were wounded, and 39 settlements came under Russian fire.
