The enemy once again attempted to use unconventional routes and high-speed vehicles to penetrate the rear of Ukrainian positions, but encountered a well-prepared defense, according to a Facebook post by the Kursk Military Group.
Infiltration failure through communications
According to the official spokesperson for the 71st Separate Ranger Airborne Brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian units made another attempt to break through, using a gas pipeline as their route.
This method, which the enemy has used before, was supplemented by a maneuver using light vehicles. Despite relying on surprise and speed, the movements of the groups were detected in a timely manner by intelligence assets.
Operations of the Airborne Brigade and supporting units
The coordinated actions of the soldiers of the 71st Airborne Brigade and the units supporting them allowed the threat to be swiftly neutralized.
The infiltration attempt was decisively halted even during the enemy’s deployment phase.
The use of ATVs and motorcycles did not provide the occupying forces with the expected advantage: the light vehicles became easy targets for Ukrainian defenders, turning into piles of scrap metal on the approaches to the defensive lines.
Casualty statistics of the occupying forces
The outcome of this sortie proved disastrous for the enemy’s assault groups. During the brief engagement, the defense forces inflicted significant damage on the enemy in terms of personnel and equipment.
Confirmed enemy losses were as follows:
- Killed: 35 personnel.
- Wounded: 17 enemy fighters.
- Equipment: 3 motorcycles and 4 ATVs destroyed.
Such tactics involving "small mobile groups" continue to prove ineffective when confronted by the professionally organized, echeloned defense of Ukrainian paratroopers.
The situation in this section of the front remains under the full control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the southern section of the front, Ukrainian defense forces successfully destroyed a Russian heavy multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) of the TOS Solntsepyok type.
For the first time, an incident of targeted hunting was recorded involving the use of rocket-propelled variants of Shahed drones, which the Russian side deployed to physically eliminate a Ukrainian expert in the field of radio technology with the call sign "Flash."
