Russian Belgorod faces third possible blackout in weeks after missile strikes

On Saturday evening, October 11, Belgorod was once again hit by a missile strike, raising the risk of another blackout, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Around 7:00 PM local time, videos appeared online capturing air raid sirens and a series of loud explosions. According to local channels, the Luch Thermal Power Plant was targeted.
The day before, the regional governor had confirmed that the entire region faced a missile threat. Shortly after the attack, Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that air defense systems had been activated and the missiles were allegedly shot down.
"As a result of falling debris in Belgorod, trash caught fire, and firefighters are working to extinguish it. Windows were blown out, and the roof and facade of a commercial building were damaged. Two vehicles were affected. In the village of Tavrovo, Belgorod district, a car body was damaged. In the Dubovoye settlement, the roof of a private house was punctured," he said.
A short time later, at 7:47 PM local time, Gladkov wrote that brief rolling power outages were possible following the latest strike. Some local channels reported electricity interruptions in the city.
