Nearly 40,000 residents remain without electricity.

Gladkov added that emergency repair teams are working at the damaged sites. They plan to restore power by the morning of Monday, October 6.

"The scope of work is extensive. Everyone is working together to complete the task," the governor said.

Blackouts in Russia

On the evening of October 4, a powerful explosion occurred in Belgorod, followed by a fire at the local Luch thermal power plant.

According to eyewitnesses, the facility was hit by a missile strike. The city was left completely without electricity, while disruptions to the water supply and internet services were also reported.

This is the second blackout in Belgorod and the surrounding region in the past week. The power plant was previously struck by missiles on September 28, which also caused a total blackout in the city and several nearby settlements.

A few hours ago, missiles also damaged a thermal power plant in the city of Klintsy, Bryansk region.
