Russian assault on Kyiv damages Lithuanian embassy, ambassador to be summoned

Lithuania has confirmed that its embassy building in Ukraine was damaged during today's Russian attack on Kyiv. In response, Russia's ambassador will be summoned, according to a statement by the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
"During last night's russian attacks on Kyiv, Lithuania's Embassy was also damaged. Missiles struck just meters from the Embassy. Fortunately, our staff did not suffer. Today, Lithuanian MFA will summon the russia's representative in Vilnius," the statement said.

The ministry stressed that Russia's campaign of terror against Ukraine continues without restraint, with no signs of a genuine move toward peace. In light of this, Vilnius called for increased pressure on the Kremlin.
"There is no sign of any genuine willingness to stop it, to seek peace or engage in negotiations. The Kremlin's objective remains the same: destruction, death and intimidation. The response is clear: increase pressure on Russia through stronger sanctions and step up support for Ukraine," the ministry concluded.

Earlier today, Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha was the first to report that the Lithuanian embassy building had been damaged. He stressed that Russia's terror spares no one and can only be stopped through strength and sufficient air defense capabilities.
The damage occurred during the night of August 1, when Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv. The capital was targeted twice overnight with ballistic missiles.
In its morning update, Ukraine's Air Force said Russia hit the country with 35 missiles and 185 drones. Of those, 27 were ballistic missiles, and Ukrainian air defenses managed to intercept only one.
As previously reported, the assault caused destruction and fires in five districts of Kyiv. At least nine people were killed in the attack, while another 30 were injured.
