Russian attack on Kyiv hits homes, ignites warehouses and leaves people dead

What Russian forces used to strike

At approximately 1:30 am Kyiv time, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and most regions of Ukraine. The reason for the signal was the threat of ballistic missile strikes.

At the same time, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded missile launches, all heading toward the capital. The attack lasted about 30 minutes with short breaks, so multiple series of explosions were heard in the city. The all-clear was given at 2:48 am.

Consequences of the August 1 attack on Kyiv

On the Telegram channels of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Kyiv City Military Administration, it was stated that the consequences of the shelling have so far been recorded in the Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

Solomianskyi district

In this district, the consequences have so far been recorded in several locations. In particular:

• As a result of the strike, a fire broke out in a 6-story non-residential building;
• Cars are on fire in a parking lot;
• As a result of falling rocket debris, people are trapped in a five-story building, and there is a fire in the courtyard.

Darnytskyi district

Here, according to local authorities, debris fell on non-residential territory. It is known that warehouse facilities are on fire.

Holosiivskyi district

In the Holosiivskyi district, debris was also recorded falling on non-residential territory.

Shevchenkivskyi district

At 2:33 am, the mayor of Kyiv reported that in a residential building where people are trapped, partial destruction occurred on the first and second floors.

In addition, a fire broke out at a car wash in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Casualties and injuries

Initially, local authorities reported one death. However, as of 2:46 am, the number of deaths had risen to 3, and the number of injured had reached five people. All the wounded were hospitalized by medics.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, there are already 4 dead and 13 injured in Kyiv.

Other attacks on Kyiv

On the night of July 30, Russian forces also carried out a combined strike on Ukraine. Several cities came under attack, including Kyiv.

In particular, as a result of the attack at that time, fires broke out in two districts in shopping pavilions, on the territory of a garage cooperative, and in a five-story non-residential building. There were also casualties, including one dead.

According to The Guardian, Russia's strike on Kyiv destroyed a plant of the American company Terminal Autonomy, which produces high-precision drones.
