Russia launched Iskander missiles and drones into Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense shot down most of the Shaheds, but didn't manage to shoot down the ballistic missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

“On the night of November 18, Russia attacked Sumy region with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Voronezh region and a Kh-59 guided missile from the airspace of Kursk region,” the statement says.

In addition, the Russian occupiers launched 11 Shahed attack UAVs and unidentified drones from the Kursk region.

8 Russian attack drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defense in Poltava, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions. Three UAVs were lost in the area.

Russia's attack on Ukraine

On November 17, Russia massively attacked Ukraine. Reacting to the massive shelling of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians had fired 120 missiles and 90 drones.

In particular, in Kyiv, the wreckage of downed Russian drones fell in four districts, injuring 2 people. Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Mykolaiv, Kremenchuk, and Odesa were also attacked. Among the dead were railroad and energy workers.

The main impact was on electricity generation and transmission facilities across the country. As soon as Russia began launching dozens of drones and missiles across Ukraine, emergency blackouts were introduced in several regions on the instructions of Ukrenergo.

The most difficult situation with the electricity supply arose in Odesa. There were not only power outages but also water outages.
