On Sunday, November 17, Russian invaders attacked Odesa and the surrounding region. As a result of the shelling, the energy infrastructure was damaged, reports Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper, Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, and the State Emergency Service (DSNS).

Today, Russian forces attacked energy facilities in the Odesa region. Following instructions from Ukrenergo, emergency power outages have been implemented in the area.

According to the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, there are disruptions in the supply of heat, water, and electricity. Hospitals and other critical infrastructure facilities are operating on generators. In Odesa, electric transport and some traffic lights are also out of service.

Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov announced that an urgent meeting of the Commission on Technological and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations (TES and ES) was held.

"Dear Odesans, you can see that the situation is very difficult. This is an unprecedented attack on Ukraine's infrastructure, particularly our city... The TES and ES commission has gathered, and we are working on providing people with transport, water supply, and drinking water," he said.

The mayor added that efforts are underway to address the consequences of the enemy's attack. According to him, water stations are functioning, and boiler houses are being switched to generators.

Other consequences of the attack

The State Emergency Service (SES) reported that the shelling in the Odesa region caused fires in three private homes, while four other houses were partially destroyed.

According to rescuers, a teenager was injured in the attack.

Head of the Odesa regional administration reports casualties

The head of the Odesa regional administration, Oleh Kiper, confirmed two fatalities and one injured 17-year-old boy following the attack. He noted that information on the consequences of the shelling is still being gathered.

"I regret to inform you that we have fatalities. My condolences to the families. There are also injured individuals," Kiper stated during a national telethon.

Russia’s attack on November 17

Today, the enemy launched the most extensive strike in three months. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia fired approximately 120 missiles and 90 drones, with air defense forces destroying over 140 targets.

The occupiers targeted energy generation facilities, including thermal power stations, as well as power transmission infrastructure. Emergency power outages were introduced across Ukraine.

Casualties were reported in Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Lviv regions. Injuries were confirmed in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, and Zaporizhzhia.
