Russia strikes SOCAR oil depot in Ukraine's Odesa region, several injured – Sources

On the night of August 8, Russia attacked an oil depot of the Azerbaijani oil company SOCAR in the Odesa region using Shahed drones. The strike caused a fire and damaged a diesel fuel pipeline, according to sources within law enforcement agencies.
According to the sources, the fire was quickly contained. As a result of the enemy strike, four employees sustained serious injuries and were given urgent medical assistance.
The extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and emergency restoration work is underway.
Sources note that while official investigation results have not yet been released, the precise targeting of five guided drones clearly indicates that the oil depot was the main objective of the attack.
Earlier, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported partial destruction of a pumping station and damage to facilities belonging to one of the enterprises.
Attack on Ukraine on August 8
Explosions were heard in Odesa during the night of August 8 amid a threat from Shahed drones. One person was injured as a result of the attack, with damage reported and a fire breaking out.
Explosions were also heard in Kharkiv, where the city came under drone attack. A fire erupted at a civilian enterprise in the Saltivskyi district following the strike.
In addition, a Shahed drone attack was recorded in Shostka, Sumy region. While air defense forces were intercepting enemy UAVs, some destruction could not be avoided.
Overall, Ukraine’s Air Force shot down more than 80 enemy drones overnight. Most of them were Shahed drones, along with some jet-powered UAVs and decoy drones.
