Russia strikes large family home in Ukraine's Sumy region and kills 3, including a child

On the morning of June 22, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the home of a large family in the Sumy region. The strike claimed the lives of a child, his father, and his grandmother, according to the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The attack took place today at around 4:50 a.m. in the Znob-Novhorodske community.
According to the investigation, Russians struck a civilian home in the Shostka district with a drone. A 13-year-old boy, his 36-year-old father, and his 73-year-old grandmother were killed in the attack.
The child’s 31-year-old mother, 10-year-old brother, and 13-year-old sister were also injured. All the victims are receiving the necessary medical care.
Prosecutors are currently working with law enforcement to document the aftermath of the Russian attack and gather evidence.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of war crimes resulting in loss of life (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The offense carries a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison, and in the case of intentional murder, life imprisonment.
Russian attacks on Sumy region
The Sumy region suffers daily from Russian strikes with various types of weapons.
Recently, Russian troops attacked the region’s railway infrastructure with Shahed drones.
Stations, train stations, electrical signaling posts, and substations were hit. A female employee of Ukrainian Railways was killed in the Russian attack.
Before that, Russian forces struck Konotop. A locomotive depot was damaged, and a female railway worker was killed while fleeing to a shelter. Several other railway workers were injured.
In addition, the Russians destroyed the train station building in Shostka with direct hits from several dozen Shaheds and damaged the station’s infrastructure.
