Russian drones hit railway infrastructure in Ukraine's Sumy region, killing one

Overnight, Russia attacked railway infrastructure in Ukraine's Sumy region with Shahed drones, targeting stations, terminals, electrical signaling posts, and substations. A Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) employee was killed, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration and Ukrainian Railways CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.
Strike on the Shostka community
According to the regional administration, the enemy carried out a massive drone strike on a civilian infrastructure facility in the Shostka community overnight.
As a result of the attack, a 44-year-old woman was killed. Another woman, aged 33, suffered severe injuries. Doctors are currently providing her with the necessary medical assistance.
A three-story non-residential building also sustained significant damage. The consequences of the strike are being clarified.
The victim was a railway worker
Ukrainian Railways CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi reported that the deceased woman worked as an operator at one of the railway stations.
"The deadly enemy strikes on Sumy region's railway infrastructure continued overnight. The enemy directed Shahed drones at stations, terminals, electrical signaling posts, and substations," he wrote.

According to him, a mobile shelter had been installed at the station, and a monitoring group had warned of the danger.
"Unfortunately, I must report the worst: we have suffered a loss — an operator at one of the stations was killed," Pertsovskyi said.
A station duty officer was also injured during the attack.
The head of Ukrainian Railways clarified that the woman has already undergone surgery. Her life is not in danger.
Attacks on the Sumy region
On June 11, the Russian army attacked Konotop in the Sumy region. A locomotive depot came under attack, and a railway employee who was heading to a shelter was killed. Several other railway workers were injured.
According to local authorities, part of Konotop was left without electricity and water due to the attack.
Earlier, Russian drones also struck residential areas of the city. Rescuers pulled one person from the rubble, while three others were admitted to intensive care.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed the station building in Shostka, Sumy region, with direct hits from several dozen Shaheds and damaged the station's infrastructure.
