In the Odesa region, a Russian night attack damaged a DTEK energy facility and injured an employee. Nearly 30,000 homes were left without power, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration, and DTEK Odesa power grid.
"On the night of October 29, Russia carried out another massive attack on the civilian infrastructure of the Odesa region. Despite the active work of the air defense forces, damage to energy and transport infrastructure facilities was recorded," Kiper says in a statement.
The DTEK Odesa power grid energy facility was hit. One employee of the energy company was injured in the Russian attack and received all necessary medical assistance.
Due to the Russian strikes, some consumers were temporarily left without electricity. Energy workers are already working to restore the networks. Critical infrastructure facilities are powered by generators.
DTEK specifies that the damage to the energy equipment is significant and that repairs will take a long time.
As of this morning, energy workers connected 7,000 customers from backup sources, but about 27,000 families remain without power.
This morning, October 29, Russians attacked critical infrastructure in the center of Chernihiv. A strike by a drone was recorded there.
According to local authorities, there were no casualties.
Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine's partners had formed a coalition to support the energy sector, which has suffered significant damage from Russian attacks.
