Russia says peace talks with Ukraine are 'deeply on hold' with no new ideas

Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia are currently deeply on hold, with no new ideas, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, according to Russian media.
"Strikes on Kyiv are continuing, and they are continuing systematically. We are deliberately continuing to destroy the military and surrounding infrastructure of the Kyiv regime. Our military knows what it is doing and how to do it," Peskov said.
Regarding escalation, he said these were "traditional scare stories that are widely published in Western media."
"We are continuing the special military operation, and advances on the fronts are ongoing. Obviously, experts understand perfectly well what this dynamic means and what consequences it ultimately has for Kyiv. As for peace talks, this issue is currently deeply on hold," the Kremlin spokesperson added.
According to him, there are no new ideas regarding the talks.
"The Ukrainian side knows our demands perfectly well. They do not want to discuss this peacefully. Therefore, we continue to maintain this positive dynamic for us. And the operation continues," Peskov said.
Peace talks
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov previously said that a new meeting between representatives of Ukraine and Russia could take place in September.
At the same time, the Kremlin said that it currently has no information about possible dates for the next meeting between representatives of Russia, the US, and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the most favorable period for a diplomatic end to the war could last from the G20 summit in the US in December until the end of summer 2027.
According to him, this period will be the most active phase for diplomacy, as preparations for the presidential election will subsequently begin in the US.
