Situation at the front
According to the latest report from the General Staff, as of the evening of January 21, 140 combat engagements took place at the front over the past day. The largest number of battles was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions.
Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Huliaipole are strategic targets for the Russians, but the cities remain under the control of the Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, enemy propaganda sometimes presents wishful thinking as reality, claiming these territories online and on television.
There is also information about Russian plans regarding the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The plan is to create a control zone along the border. At the same time, in the Lyman direction, the enemy aims to take control of Lyman and then advance toward the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk agglomeration.
Meanwhile, in Vovchansk, Russian forces are entrenching themselves in the city's northern part. At the same time, advancing southward remains problematic for them.
Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that Ukraine's current goal is to inflict enemy losses at the level of 50,000 troops per month.
