Russia may test NATO's defenses over the next two to four years. Moscow may attempt to attack one of the Baltic states, reports The Guardian, citing EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius.

According to him, the urgency of developing ways to protect the Baltic region stems from public statements by the intelligence services of NATO countries, in particular Germany, Denmark, Finland, and the Netherlands.

Russia may be ready to test NATO's defenses within the next two to four years, as early as 2030.

“We can just guess that in such a case, Baltic states will be one of the preferable targets of the new Kremlin aggression. It will be an aggression also against all of NATO and against all of European Union,” he said.

Kubilius also stressed that EU and NATO countries must learn lessons from Russia's war against Ukraine and accelerate their defense plans.

“My major message today: let’s ask Ukrainians how to be ready for defence, and how they can help us to be ready,” he said.

Russia is preparing for provocations in Europe

Earlier, the new president of Germany's Federal Foreign Intelligence Service (BND), Martin Jäger, said that Vladimir Putin is ready to test European borders and could provoke a hot confrontation at any moment.

Ukrainian military intelligence has stated that Russia considers a large-scale war in Europe to be inevitable in the medium term.

The EU is preparing to launch a large-scale defense reform, including joint production of drones. Brussels wants to make Europe ready for war by 2030.
