Russia massively strikes Ukraine's Odesa overnight: Number of casualties rises to 22

On the night of January 27, Russia struck residential buildings in the very center of Odesa, in the Khadzhybeiskyi district, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa city military administration.
A Russian night drone attack caused extensive damage in Odesa, affecting residential buildings and social infrastructure, with over 20 people injured. There were no reports of casualties from the Russian terrorist attack. Damage was recorded to infrastructure, apartment buildings, a kindergarten, a store, and a construction site. Russian strikes hit several locations, causing significant destruction and fires.
Casualties and emergency services
According to official information, 22 people were injured in the Russian attack. Of these, 14 suffered minor injuries and were examined by medics on site. The others required additional medical assistance. All emergency services began work immediately after the first reports of the strikes and have been working through the night to deal with the aftermath.
Assistance to residents and restoration
Operational headquarters have been set up on site to coordinate assistance to those affected. Utility workers are repairing damage and ensuring the safety of the area.
Residents of destroyed houses are being helped to complete the paperwork to receive compensation under the state program, eRestoration, and from the city budget. All victims are being provided with the necessary support, and information about the consequences of the attack continues to be clarified.
On January 26, Russian troops launched a missile strike on Kharkiv and the surrounding region, resulting in power outages and casualties. According to preliminary data, two people were injured in Kharkiv itself, and residential high-rise buildings and educational institutions in the Industrialnyi district of the city were damaged.
Russian strikes also affected critical infrastructure in the region, leaving a number of settlements, including Chuhuiv, without power. The city and its suburbs experienced interruptions in water, heating, and electricity supplies, with metro trains temporarily suspended on some lines and electric transport partially replaced by bus routes.
On January 26, a Russian Shahed strike drone hit a multi-story residential building in Kryvyi Rih, after which the aftermath of the attack began to be dealt with: the fire was quickly extinguished, residents were evacuated, and a relief headquarters and temporary accommodation were organized for the victims.
According to updated information, there were no casualties, as no one was in the damaged apartments at the time of the strike, although significant damage and broken windows were reported in the building and neighboring buildings.
