On January 26, Russian forces launched a missile attack on Kharkiv and the surrounding region. After the strikes, power outages were reported, and at least one person was injured, according to the city mayor, Ihor Terekhov, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, and Chuhuiv mayor Halyna Minaieva.

According to preliminary information, one person was injured in Kharkiv. Later, the mayor confirmed a second casualty.

Terekhov said the attack damaged residential high-rises and schools in the Industrialnyi district.

Residents reported interruptions to water, electricity, and heating.

Metro service disrupted

Kharkiv Metro also announced that trains on the Saltivska and Oleksiivska lines were temporarily suspended for technical reasons.

The Akademika Pavlova station on the Saltivska line was temporarily closed to passengers.

Power outages across the region

In addition, the strikes on critical infrastructure left several settlements in the Kharkiv region, including Chuhuiv, without power.

"Further updates will be provided after energy workers assess the full extent of the damage," Minaieva said.

Kharkiv City Council later reported that instability in the city’s power grid has caused disruptions to passenger electric transport services.

As a result, a temporary bus route has been launched.

Russian attacks on Kharkiv

Yesterday, January 25, Russia carried out a massive strike on Kharkiv. One missile hit the Nemyshlianskyi district, and another struck the Kyivskyi district. One person, a 79-year-old woman, was hospitalized with injuries.

Additionally, on the night of January 24, Russia attacked Kharkiv using drones. Over two and a half hours, 25 enemy drones were launched over the city.

Mayor Terekhov reported that residential buildings in the Industrialnyi and Nemyshlianskyi districts were damaged.

Earlier, on January 21, Kharkiv was also targeted. According to the mayor, a drone fell in the Slobidskyi district of the city.
