Russians launched a new air strike on Ukraine on the night of May 26, attacking with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 122 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to the Ukrainian military, starting at 6 p.m. Kyiv time on May 25, Russia launched 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Rostov region of Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea, 122 attack drones, including Shahed, jet drones, Gerbera, Italmas, and decoy drones of the Parodiya type.

The launches were carried out from the Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk of Russia, and Hvardiiske districts in occupied Crimea.

How Ukrainian air defense system performed

The Russian air attack was repelled by the air forces, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups, and the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As of 8:30 a.m., air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 111 Russian drones in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.

"9 strike drones and missiles were recorded hitting 11 locations, and downed drone debris was found at three locations," the statement says.

Ukrainian Air Force warns that the Russian attack is ongoing. New groups of Russian drones have already entered Ukrainian airspace.

Late on the evening of May 25, Russia launched a combined missile and drone strike on Odesa and its suburbs.

An infrastructure facility in one of the city’s districts was damaged. The blast wave also shattered windows at an educational institution and nearby residential buildings.

One person was killed, and three others were wounded as a result of the Russian strikes.

The death toll from Russia’s nighttime attack on Kyiv on May 24 has risen.

Meanwhile, Moscow announced plans for systematic strikes against Kyiv. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov officially confirmed this during a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
